Taking inspiration from miniatures and toys, Miss Bibi has created an amusing jewelry collection. They totally remind me of the board game pieces from Clue. I can't help but think, "Yes, it was Mr. Mustard in the library with the candlestick." I think my favorite is the stiletto ring. I can definitely see me sporting one.

Wit + Math = Awesome
When I was learning French the phrase I wanted to learn first was, "The subject I hate the most is math." You may think I wanted to learn all the swear words given my giant potty mouth (true I did pick up a few those too), but I wanted to declare my pure hatred towards math first and foremost. I practiced with diligence the phrase, "Le sujet que je déteste le plus sont les mathématiques". Math is my nemesis. But I am about to kiss and make up because of the discovery of these brilliant equations from New Math by Craig Damrauer. Crap, now I'll have to practice, "Je pense que les mathématiques sont génial." Way to make math funny, dude.

My Little Pony
A little pony love to share. Gino Vannelli was on to something when we wrote Wild Horses back in '87. Shhh... don't tell anyone but I used to sing that song to my little pony when I was a kid. Yup, I was that cool. To redeem myself and my pride, here are some pretty photos of the day. Enjoy.
PS Have you seen Gino's hair these days? Wow. Intense.

Sunglasses at Night
I can't seem to find my sunglasses anywhere. This caused a mini panic attack when the sun was finally out in full force over the weekend. I've come to the conclusion that we need to see more than Ray-Ban Wayfarers this summer. Am I right? Hells yeah I'm right. Everyone has been talking about round lenses for the season, but I for one look like John Lennon in drag wearing this shape. Or some Harry Potter want-to-be (or that crazy dude at the local coffee shop, you know who I mean). Anyways, it's just not a good idea. At least not for me. So what will I do besides squint all summer long? I recently found some nice options for the ladies. I'm loving the Annie Hall inspired Diane de Carlo frames and Jeepers Peepers makes cute tortoise shell sunglasses with amber lenses. This season Karen Walker doesn't disappoint. Check out her Trixie and Duper Strength frames or try a pair of Ksubi Bayliss sunglasses at Oak. You won't feel the urge to impersonate Tom Cruise from Risky Business. Yes, you can keep your pants on, but please take off your shades.

Emmanuel Polanco
Emmanuel Polanco is my illustrator of the day. He lives in Paris. He rocks. And was born in 1977, which happens to be my favorite year (this honestly has nothing to do with Star Wars or the release of Fleetwood Mac's Rumours I swear!). Check out these 3 illustrations commissioned for the US Postal service to commemorate Edgar Allen Poe. I think they're just peachy. Collage is where it's at. Period.

Golden Girl
These days I seem to be listening to music that really makes me shake a tail feather. Not too long ago if it didn't have a ripping guitar solo I wasn't even going to bother. Don't get me wrong, I am still a woman of classic rock, but I also seem to have some serious disco roots. Last weekend I spent some time enjoying the sweet jam Solid Gold by the mysterious The Golden Filter. They totally remind me of Glass Candy. And I love love love their teaser video of glowing blonde hair. It feels like liquid sunshine. I can't wait for the summer. Bring it on. Where's my bottle of Sun In?
P.S. Don't you just adore the album art? Those crazy prism foxes kinda have a hint of "crack fox". Speaking of which, here's a link to that gem. You have to watch it. It's nuts. Click here.
P.P.S. Listen to The Golden Filter's remix of Little Boots here. (via DiscoDust)
P.P.P.S. It's so hot outside today! Let's have an outdoor dance party!
Scissor Kick
I feel like Montreal is having a one day sale. Today the offer is a day of summer. It's actually hot outside. Like really hot. And it's only for "One Day Only. Sale, Sale, Sale! ". This photo was taken of me by my super talented friend Chloe and I think it best personifies how I feel today. Yes, I feel like a David Lee Roth song from 1986 about Jumping. Why? Well nothing makes me want to jump more than:
Warm Weather
Making and eating lemon cupcake with friends
Sneaking in some patio action in between
This is what Saturday is all about. Bring it on. Time to get sunburned.

Adult Swim
There is something in the air. Every spring it happens in the city. People go wild when the temperature goes up. It's like living in a Sean Paul video when the sun comes out. I swear. So, I'm walking down St. Laurent weaving my way around mini dog after mini dog when I'm stopped by a man drunk with the sun, "Darling, your eyes are like 2 swimming pools." This could be the worst pick up line ever. But when the weekend forecast is a high of 26˚C one can't help but have pools on their mind (and patios with sangria). So I don't blame him.
Speaking of swimming, I just adore Carlo Van de Roer's series on pools. They are so fresh and simple. I see them and i want to jump right in. They're like instant air conditioning. Much of Carlo's work is dominated with images of the ocean and pools as a way to connect with his native New Zealand. If you fancy one of his prints, you can pick one up at 20x200. I just ordered one myself. CANON BALL!
20 Minute Workout
I need to go to the gym. Since I will obviously have to buy a new Marc by Marc Jacobs swimsuit. If I don't want it to hang in my closet all summer, then I'd better hit the treadmill FAST. Okay so who can recommend a personal trainer?
Out of the collection, these are my favorite 4. It's probably because I love their giant bows and ruffles (so sweet, so simple). I think I can finally retire the Speedo and go poolside in style. And we all know I usually opt for something that resembles a burlap sack when it comes to swimwear! Thank you Mr. Jacobs. Finally.

Doorstep Treats
Today I had Coconut Records in my head. "If it's a summer day, with not a cloud insight. Then tell me why, it feels like it might rain..." It inspired me to grab my camera and spend a few hours outside. On my way out the door, wearing my new A.P.C. sneakers of course, I took a quick snapshot of my "Guard Bird" perched outside the front door. I couldn't resist. This little dude was a gift from our neighbour Vanessa who once and while leaves little things on our doorstep like fresh croissants or some red licorice. Hey Vanessa, want to leave a bag of Swedish Berries tomorrow? I have a sweet tooth, what can I say.

A Shout Out
I'd like to give a shout out to superstar photo editor Liz Ikiriko who is now contributing to Heather Morton Art buyer's blog. Have a look at her great post on photographer Joanne Ratajczak. It's very insightful and full of great quotes from the artist. Yeah Liz! Can I get a what? what? I can't wait to read Liz's next installment. Stay tuned!
P.S. What a great new discovery... I heart Joanne's work. Very clean. Such a lovely + soft colour palette.

I Feel Love
Director Chris Cunningham has just produced a charming 30 second commercial for Gucci Flora. I am delighted to find another Gucci fragrance gem after David Lynch's most delicious disco number from a few years ago. Need to refresh your memory? Click here to watch it. I have to admit David Lynch's version is more magical but I'll take a field of sun soaked flowers any day. Somehow Donna Summer + model Abbey Lee Kershaw + sun flair = awesome. Dare I say it's kinda McDreamy? There, I said it.

Grey Gardens
Personally, I can't wait to start my flower garden on my mini fire escape that doubles as a balcony. It's super tiny so I can only get a few flower boxes on it. I've been dreaming about growing herbs and some fresh leafy vegetables but I'm not convinced my thumb is green enough, nor do I have the space. Like me, if a garden is not an option then bring some florals and delicious lettuce greens home another way. These are my favorite green picks to satisfy any penchant for your own not so grey garden.

Cute Overload

Sunscreen Optional
DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince were on to something when they made the song Summertime. The tune goes like this, "The temperature's about 88. Break to ya crib change your clothes once more cause you're invited to a barbecue that's starting at 4..." I think if I was going to a barbecue and needed to look ultra cute then I would wear one of these fresh, like the Prince, outfits from A.P.C.'s MADRAS collection. How cute is the plaid onesie? I heart you MADRAS and your adorable, simple style. Come home with me and live in my closet please. Okay, so who is having a barbecue this weekend? Or how about a picnic?

Disco, disco
The super awesome team at the Montreal design studio Baillat Cardell & fils just produced a stunning music video for Ariane Moffatt. It's full of hypnotic graphics and lovable creatures you'll want to take home as pets. I have dibs on pink dude with 4 legs. He's mine. Back off.
The song is titled Jeudi, 17 mai from her Juno winning album Tout Les Sens. Have a look. I think you'll like it. Click Here to see a clip.

Valero Doval
This is an oldie, but a goodie. Valero Doval is a wicked illustrator based in London. He is an absolute dreamboat to work with. It's like getting a Kinder Surprise when you receive one of his illustrations. What's inside? What's inside? A delightfully intelligent yet simply beautiful piece of art. Spread the love. Or buy your own at Inprint where you'll find some of his work as posters.

Brass Monkey
Christopher Kane's SS09 collection was all about the monkey print which recently spawned a new collection of silk-jersey chimp, gorillia, mandrill and ye ol' baboon t-shirts. Kinda awesome. I totally want one. While the lovely Rachel Comey's Fall 2009 collection has an adorable rust coloured swinging monkey blouse. Very sweet. But if you want to really get Planet of the Apes on me, then you just have to get yourself a Shin Murayama Mandrill Nose. Why not? You'll look completely normal wearing it, I swear. Or if you're not in the mood to wear a monkey mask, then how about a Ninja sock monkey? He has his own throwing star so you know he's hard core too.
