Tie One On

STYLE STYLE STYLE  / WWAKE
. . . .

On a recent trip to New York, my BFF Erika introduced me to Wing Yau's handknotted jewelry collection WWAKE. Hello gorgeous. I'm pretty much kicking myself for not picking up a necklace, but good news you can buy them online here. Inspired by the simple designs behind traditional handwork and patterns, WWAKE is crafted in none other than beautiful British Columbia. Mad props to the west coast.

Disco Disco

STYLE STYLE  / BIANCA JAGGER
. . . .

Can we just for a second give a shout out to Bianca Jagger and her radical style? No one can rock a white YSL tuxedo like she can. For sure the topic of Bianca's style has been written about, blogged and re-blogged a million times, but being a child of the 70's it's close to my heart. You see, when I was born I narrowly missed the chance to be named after this Disco Disco icon. It wasn't until I was much older that I realized how incredibly cool Bianca is. I remember my first vinyl was the Rolling Stone's Tattoo You and not quite getting it because I was still rocking to Raffi. You know, sometimes it takes a little time to appreciate the impossible cool. Big ups for Studio 54 vibes and soft androgyny.

PS Totally going to ride on a horse into my next birthday bash à la Bianca styles. EPIC!

Shop Girl

I went on a wee little Etsy rampage the other night and picked up 2 super fun necklaces. Oops. I stumbled on the shop The Blue Balloon and couldn't resist the raw crystal and turquoise beaded combo pictured above. Isn't it radical? I love its desert witchy vibe. What did we do before online shopping? I mean, really? There's nothing better than shopping in your yoga pants with a glass or pinot noir.

Rock Band

Jem! Is truly outrageous. Truly, truly, truly outrageous. When I first saw these rad gem stones on Refinery29, I immediately started to hum this 80's anthem. I have to admit, I'm not over the cosmic stone trend. And I kinda love that they have pet rocks too. I'm pretty sure I had a few when I was a kid, but this is the luxe version – google eyes and all.

Moon walk to Trust Fun! and get your rocks on. They also sell sweet technicolor bags and scarves that give Pucci a run for their money.

Great Danes

And it goes a little something like this...
Reanna: "Why hello Stine Goya, nice to meet you. Let me introduce you to my closet."
Stine: "Oh, I love your teeny tiny closet. Let me jump right in and get comfy."

Based in Copenhagen, Stine Goya is one fine piece of awesome. With such a nice collection it's no wonder the Danes are the happiest people on Earth. Get your fix at Creatures of Comforts. Consider it Prozac for your wardrobe. I'm giddy just thinking about it.

Planet Claire

ONLINE SHOPPING SPREE
--
Oh the interweb is so much fun. You can shop for rare designer vintage in Adelaide while chilling out at a Montreal café. It's magic. There is so much good shit on Claire Inc. Run by stylist Belinda Humphris, Claire Inc. doesn't do frumpy retro rejects or rave gear. Hallelujah! And she's inspired by the good things in life like Tuxedo chocolates, Bruce Weber and King Tutankhamun. If it wasn't for the site's gratuitous Zoro hat, which is frankly killing me softly, we'd have perfection. Loads (or should I say heaps) of vintage gems for my stylish gal pals. Okay, let's go shopping already!

This Video is Killing Me

I am completely inspired and mesmerized by Jason Last's fashion films. This is my new obsession (that and getting my hands on a Red Camera). I encourage you to watch more of his haunting work here and see what inspires this talented film maker .

Thanks to the amazing Sarah for introducing me to Jason's kinda awesome.

Fancy Footwork

I love these bright and bold Bill Cosby sweater shoes from Osborn. Get this, all their shoes are handcrafted in a Guatemalan artisan workshop – hence the funkadelic fabrics – in small limited batches. So once you get a pair, you know you'll be that cool kid wearing the cool shoes everyone covets. Make people jealous. Fair trade has never looked so good. Or so jazzy.

Where to find them: Online, Oak (28 Bond Street, NYC), and Alter (109 Franklin Street, Brooklyn).

Giddy Up

New Caesar Pony Treats
--
Hear ye! Hear ye! Miss Emily has found fabulous new pieces for Caesar Pony. Time traveling around Quebec in her custom CP Delorean, Em has gathered an amazing collection for our Etsy store. Our must-haves are a rad navy jumper, insane palazzo pants and a yellow striped shirt dress (Plus the usual killer heels and purses). New items will be posted throughout the week so check often for updates.

Here are a few pics from behind the scenes. Giddy up!

Four ways to get pumped for a Caesar Pony photo shoot
--
1. Loads of coffee
We love heart racing caffeine. How fabulous is Emily's cool Danish coffee pot? It makes one strong brew. On y va! (That's French for Let's go).

2. Soviet Army Chorus & Band
Nothing gets a girl more enthusiastic then blaring Iron Curtain anthems. This brings me back to the old country when my family lived in mud huts and drank vodka like water. You know, the good ol' days. All I gotta say is, "Без труда́ не вы́тащишь и ры́бку из пруда́ !".

3. Lilacs
The smell is enough to make you feel like a beautiful lady frolicking through meadows. We're convinced it's sweet scent got Vanessa ready to vogue.

4. Vintage photos of random people
Forget Tyra and the Sears catalogue. The best way to get modeling inspiration is by studying vintage photos. We loved this "bird on shoulder" pose. So dainty.

Seeing Red

I've been looking for a bust of colour to add to my already exclusive black and grey wardrobe. Sure it's spring and you can't resist to wear a pale and soft palette, but I think there is nothing better than a pop of red. Plus it's an all year round classic so you can't go wrong unless you sport head-to-toe crimson (only appropriate for Santa Claus). Tights, a cute purse, the perfect red shoe or lip... a little goes a long way.

Bright Eyes

I nearly lost my coveted Vuarnet sunglasses the other day. I was convinced I misplaced them so I spent the day looking for the next best thing. Lucky for you I found 3 super awesome sunglass designers just in time for summer.

KAREN WALKER
--
Calling all sun gods. These sunglasses are out of control awesome with original shapes and colours. Be bold. Throw out your Ray-Bans already. I promise people will worship you in your Karen Walkers.

COLAB
--
For the graphic design nerd, try on a pair of Colabs. Designed by artists like Deanne Cheuk, Geoff Mcfetridge and Mike Perry they come with their own unique packaging, case and poster. Get out your Pantone chips.

CHRONICLES OF NEVER
--
When I put these sunglasses on I started to sing the theme from The Neverending Story. There is something epic about the Chronicles of Never. They mean business and are best worn when fighting off warlocks and hobbits (or for doing your best impression of designer Denis Gangon).

White Trash

I have a confession to make. Often at the end of the day I get really lazy and throw my clothes on the floor. Yes there is a big ol' messy pile of dirty clothes in my bedroom at all times. But now I can safely say it's fashionable to wear trashy dirty clothes. We can all let out a collective sign of relief. Ahhh.... Thank you Aurel Schmidt for creating these amazing T-shirts. Now I can wear cigarette butts and half eaten donuts with pride. Remember those awesome tuxedo and the bikini body T-shrits you can pick up at any tacky souvenir shop? I'd say these are the updated version except you won't find them anywhere except the ever chic Opening Ceremony.

Alpha Dogs

I am officially infatuated with siblings Alex and Georgie Cleary of Alpha60. Mostly because I want to wear their giant iconic face T-shirts all day long. Yeah, everyone is doing it. But somehow the Melbourne version is far cooler. Whether it's a young River Phoenix, a screaming Drew Barrymore or a bug eyed Jean-Luc Godard it just works. I recently picked up a kooky tee of the scandalous Marchesa Luisa Casati. Ah yes, I love the Euro eccentrics. I'll wear it proudly.

The line may it's roots in T-shirt design, but their minimal stores are also filled with simple, oversized androgynous clothing – very Tilda Swinton chic. So what's new? Word on the street Team Brother and Sister just created a pretty radical t-shirt for the Australian Ballet depicting a dapper business man in a tutu. Sweet. I love these behind the scenes photos of the duo making magic happen in their Fitzroy studio. Creativity is everywhere. Yeah for Melbourne!
