Hidden Cameras

I once fell in love with myself being somewhere else
Found photos reworked by Kaya Benhkalam

A cool series created from a Syrian photographer's abandoned photos of customers posed in front of staged exotic backdrops. Makes you wonder what could happen to the images you never picked up from the photo lab. Yes, somewhere you could be a piece of art.

Thanks Em B. for finding this awesome series and sharing it with me.

Stay Calm

PHOTOGRAPHER OF THE DAY
Salva López first picked up a camera in 2007. A few years later and he's shooting photos for the likes of Monocle and Ogilvy. I often find myself visiting his website, flickr and photo diary to see what's new. His work is poetic, a touch melancholic yet always beautiful...

Little Monsters

ILLUSTRATOR OF THE DAY STACEY ROZICH
Loving these Legend meets Slavic storybook illustrations by Stacey Rozich. Here's an interesting Q&A for a little more folky love from the Seattle based artist.

Madonna at Maripol's Studio, 1984.
This is really one of my favorite photos. I've been meaning to pick up Maripol's book Little Red Riding Hood ever since I read about it on Nowness last summer. Imagine a whole book filled with pre-Gaga-Minaj style and material girl goodness. Now, where did I park my time machine? Wouldn't mind going back to the source.
