Bon Temps

PHOTOGRAPHER OF THE DAY GRACE AND LAUREN
--

Been watching nothing but True Blood these days and it's rubbing off on me. Oh Sookie! Lately it's all about witchy images so it's no surprise I'm drawn towards these haunting photos shot by the LA/San Francisco based photographers Sallskapdan aka Grace and Lauren. I don't know much more about them except what's found their tumblr, My Life or Whatever and blog, Bitter by Twenty. Check it out.

EASY LIKE SUNDAY MORNING
the pétanque edition
--

What makes a great Sunday? Warm weather, chilled wine, throw in some homemade cake and friendly competition. A few weekends ago we had what could be called our annual pétanque tournament and I'm just now going through the photos. I was too busy kicking pétanque ass to take more than a few snapshots of the afternoon, but it was indeed easy like Sunday morning...

So tell me, what makes a great Sunday for you?

Soft Rock

Based in San Francisco and rocking hard, Ty Lettau has created these RAD album covers. I just discovered them today (yes, I am a little slow since I am sure they're blowing up on ffffound). They really remind me of both Hexagonall's movie posters and Albert Exergian's work. Loving the minimalism.

Check out more on Fubiz.

Sweet Dreams

PHOTOGRAPHER OF THE DAY LI HUI
--
Magical and delicate are the first words that pop into my head when I look at Li Hui's photography. Her work is full of soft, overexposed light and faceless characters. It's introverted and sweet on the surface, yet far from being purely superficial. Have a look at her flickr page and discover more...

Rock Band

Jem! Is truly outrageous. Truly, truly, truly outrageous. When I first saw these rad gem stones on Refinery29, I immediately started to hum this 80's anthem. I have to admit, I'm not over the cosmic stone trend. And I kinda love that they have pet rocks too. I'm pretty sure I had a few when I was a kid, but this is the luxe version – google eyes and all.

Moon walk to Trust Fun! and get your rocks on. They also sell sweet technicolor bags and scarves that give Pucci a run for their money.

Creature Comforts

ILLUSTRATOR OF THE DAY BEASTMAN
--

I was flipping through my favorite Australian magazines and I came across Sydney's Brad Eastman aka Beastman. Yes, Beastman. Sounds scary, but the name suits his artwork which is dominated by a few scaly open-mouthed characters. The artist explains his work as, "influenced by the beauty and symbolism behind nature’s repetitive geometric patterns... and the everyday burdens and struggles of life that mankind so easily and continuously finds itself lost in." I couldn't have said it better. See more of Beatman's work here and here. Oh and how about checking out his interview in Oyster magazine? Have fun.

Jump!

Sometimes you've just got to jump. I think I'm going to spend 5 whole minutes jumping on my bed today. Yippee! Try it, it's fun.

I feel like dancing! I love that this little guy has better moves then me. Plus I like his Ninja suit. Can't touch this.

Early Bird

Maurizio Bongiovanni's paintings look like a mix of futuristic laser birds and melted wax figurines. Straddling between realism and abstraction, his artwork is somehow modern yet as retro as 1970's wallpaper.

+ spotted on beautiful decay.

Slow Jams

REANNA TIME | CALME TOI LA MIX
Take it easy today and listen to some slow jams. Inspired by autumn's evening chill, picnics with friends, apple tarte tatin and sleeping-in on a week day.

Saga

PHOTOGRAPHER OF THE DAY SAGA SIG
--

Spent some time checking out Flickr this weekend and discovered an Icelandic photographer by the name of Saga. So I did some digging and found her work on The Company of People and her personal site. She also has a blog with more photography and inspiration: The Neverending Story. Have a boo. Lots to see.
