Smart Art

Helmut Smits is a contemporary Dutch artist based in Rotterdam creating witty installations and sculptures. If you've run out of things to do, check out his book, 123 Ideas along with the link "Ideas" found on this website – its good dose of clever concepts. Crazy smart and crazy fun.

Get Him To The Greek

A COLOUR STUDY
Feeling inspired by marble, stone statues and the classics.
My ode to the little Greek shop on Park Avenue filled with Venus de Milo plasters.

Dark Crystal

A few beautiful abstract paintings by emerging Vancouver artist Russell Leng.

AN ARTIST STATEMENT
"My work is characterized by geometric forms interacting with organic marks. This is seen in a variety of ways, such as a rigid line next to a loose application of paint or gradient. I notice these relationships in nature as well; a tree breaking through a concrete sidewalk, or a housing development by a river."

Bloggy McBloggerson

Check out this cool blogger series by photographer Gabriela Herman.

I was just thinking, what would my photo look like if I was part of this series? I suppose it depends on the season. In the winter it would be me with a hot water bottle at my side with the glow of my iMac under layers of blankets. And the summer version would be me with a white wine spritzer and a fan blowing in my face (a la a disco fever photoshoot). I vote for the summer version – way more glamour, glamour, no?
