Eat Your Macaron Out

Eating my way through France, I did a little macaron taste test. Is Laudrée really the best? I tried more than these three, but they represent an interesting cross section from fancy pants Parisian to lowbrow fast food.

Can you believe that McDonald's actually sells McMacarons? Honest. And yes, I bought some just to try. I have to say, they weren't revolting nor did they give me a Big Mac headache. Bonus. Then I was off to Laudrée. Okay the boxes make these little button sized delicacies divine, but the winner has to be the lesser known Fresson. I found this shop in Northern France close to the German boarder (thanks to my mom) and they were orgasmic. Who knew? It was a Meg Ryan moment. Other places to hit up some macaron love are Lenôtre, Gérard Mulot, Dalloyau, Pierre Hermé and Fauchon. Try them all and decide on your own!

Wow the McMacarons look pretty tasty. But I am sure the others were way better. Did you bring some home to share?

McDonald's one's texture was similar, filling was more synthetic. That being said, I wish to all fuck that the golden arches here would start dishing these out...a little Kronenbourg 1664 wouldn't hurt any either ;P
